Jason Shilcock

Head of Training and Advice

Jason is our Head of Training and Advice responsible for developing Cynnal Cymru’s training offer, managing our training team to achieve the highest standards of professionalism, and leading on our continuous improvement culture.

With several years’ experience teaching English as a second language, Jason understands how individuals learn in diverse ways, and designs and adapts his tutoring to make sure everyone can get the most out of their Carbon Literacy or Nature Wise training. Jason is also an officially certified Carbon Literacy Facilitator with the Carbon Literacy Project.

Jason specialises in renewable energy, responsible resource management and climate justice. He has experience in energy policy and the Green Economy in Wales and is currently interested in degrowth for environmental good.

As an advanced ‘siaradwr newydd’, Jason is fully bilingual and can provide training in both Welsh and English.

Jason is currently learning British Sign Language (BSL).

Tom Kirton

Training and Communications Officer

Tom provides administrative support for our training programme. Responding to customer queries, booking enquiries and providing technical support to both clients and the training team.

Outside of work Tom has been a Town Councillor in Monmouthshire for over 15 years and during this time he has been Mayor of Chepstow for three consecutive years and more recently the Mayor of Monmouth where he has championed sustainable and environmental projects for Monmouth Town Council.

Tom is an officially recognised Carbon Literacy Facilitator and is also the lead officer responsible for checking and submitting Carbon Literacy evidence forms for our clients to help ensure successful certification.

Farah Lodhi-Jones

Senior Sustainability Advisor

Farah has been delivering Carbon Literacy and sustainability training to multiple sectors and is an officially recognised Carbon Literacy trainer with the Carbon Literacy Project. Having worked with global brands and organisations on developing their sustainability climate education and training, Farah is passionate about connecting global climate action with local initiatives. She speaks multiple languages and has a lived global experience of working on environment projects across Europe and the global south. 
 
She has worked on water resources management projects in the global south and is passionate about the intersection of climate justice and enabling everyone everywhere to engage with climate action. 

Chris Woodfield

Sustainability Trainer

Chris is passionate about systems change and facilitating the transformational shift to a zero carbon and regenerative society. At Cynnal Cymru he provides expert training and facilitation to a wide range of organisations and sectors.

Chris believes in the power of play, nature connection and taking a compassionate, collaborative and curious approach to facilitating change. He’s excited about using the potential of futures thinking and visioning, and co-imagining the more beautiful world we know is possible. Chris holds an MSc Sustainability and Adaptation from the Centre for Alternative Technology.

Chris specialises in systems thinking, creative and compassionate facilitation, futures thinking and pro-environmental behaviour change.

Training associates

Louise Cartwright

Sustainability Advisor (Associate)

Louise is an associate Sustainability Advisor for Cynnal Cymru, helping to deliver Carbon Literacy and Nature Wise courses to a wide range of clients.

Having worked within the charitable, environmental, and horticultural sectors for over fifteen years, Louise has developed specialisms in both land-based training and local food production. Louise holds a master’s degree in Product Design, with additional qualifications in permaculture and biodynamic land management. With previous experience of setting up and managing a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) vegetable box scheme business, Louise now lives with her partner on a smallholding in Carmarthenshire, aspiring to self-reliance.

In her spare time, Louise works with various community groups and organisations, to deliver training in organic horticulture and biodynamic gardening.
